Runf records your runs so a pixel pet can grow alongside them. This page says exactly what is collected, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.
| What | Why | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Your Apple account identifier, and the name and email address Apple chooses to share | So the account is yours and your pets follow you to a new phone | On your device and on our server |
| Your runs: start time, duration, distance, and the route when you run outdoors | To measure the run and draw its map | On your device and on our server |
| Heart rate readings during a run, from an Apple Watch | Shown while you run and summarised on the run afterwards | On your device and on our server |
| Your pets, coins, items and badges | They are the game | On your device and on our server |
| Runs recorded by other apps or watches, if you allow Health access | So a run measured by a Garmin or similar still counts | On your device and on our server |
Runf reads your location only while a run is in progress, and only to measure how far you went and to draw the route. Location is recorded with the run and is not used for anything else. It is never sold, and never shared with advertisers or data brokers.
A run continues to record while your screen is off, which is why the app asks to use location in the background. Indoor runs do not use location at all.
On a treadmill there is nothing for a location receiver to see, so Runf uses the phone's motion sensor to work out the distance instead. This is used only while an indoor run is in progress.
If you allow it, Runf reads running workouts from Apple Health so runs recorded by another watch or app can count towards your pet. It reads workouts and walking or running distance, and nothing else.
Runf never writes to Health and never asks for permission to. On an Apple Watch, the Runf watch app reads your heart rate during a workout, which is what a workout session is for.
Health data is used only inside the app and to record the run on your account. It is not shared with anyone else, and never used for advertising.
Your account lives on Supabase, which hosts the database and handles sign-in on our behalf. They process the data described above so that we can give it back to you on another device. Nobody else receives it.
Map tiles for the route pictures are fetched from OpenStreetMap as you look at them. Those requests carry the part of the map being drawn, as any map does.
Settings → Delete account removes your account and everything attached to it — pets, runs, routes, heart-rate figures, coins and badges — from the server, and clears the copy on your phone. It is immediate and it cannot be undone. Runf keeps no backup of a deleted account.
Deleting the app without deleting the account leaves your account intact, so signing in again on a new phone brings your pets back.
Runf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and it will be removed.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or where it goes, the date at the top changes with it, and the app will say so before the change takes effect.
